This is currently one of my daughter's favourite books at the moment which we like to read during the day and will often end up re-reading its predecessor, Nibbles: The Book Monster alongside it - we'll often re-read it a few times in one sitting! We enjoy lifting flaps and looking through holes, on the look out for Nibbles who is a very naughty monster who likes to chew through books and is always getting himself into a lot of trouble...

This time we find that Nibbles has nibbled, or should I say chomped, his way into a dinosaur guide book and readers must try and prevent Nibbles from falling prey to a set of ferocious jaws. There's hot-headed Triceratops, greedy Diplodocus' and scary Velociraptors among a few others. Filled with nibbled peep holes, lift-the-flaps, funny jokes and dinosaur facts, this book can be enjoyed by children ages 3 - 6 years.

This book is very funny and one that can be explored and enjoyed over and over again. Jam packed with entertaining illustrations, has Nibbles met his match when he ends up meeting the most terrible dinosaur of all - the T-Rex? Well I won't ruin the ending for you, you'll just have to catch up with this little monster yourself!

A Summer Splash with Little Tiger Press

I would like to say a huge thank you to Little Tiger Press, for inviting Aoife and I, to join them and celebrate their summer book releases at the weekend. We had a lovely time meeting the authors and illustrators, learning about what inspired their stories, the length it can take for a book to come out and about all the little bits that goes on behind the scenes at Little Tiger. There were fun activities for the children, face painting and dress up, we loved it, especially Aoife who was a very tired little girl by the end. Keeping with a summer splash theme, we then took a trip to the London Aquarium! It was a lovely day out in London.

I have had the pleasure of reviewing two of Jonny Lambert's books already; Little Why and I Love you More and More (illustrated only). He has a very distinct style which I love. The Great Aaa-Ooo! features a mouse, owl, bear, moose and wolf cub who are all very scared; it's dark and something is making a terrible noise! Is it a monster? Join the animals to help solve the mystery.

With a fun lyrical text, this is a great bedtime story and for reassuring little ones of the dark! Beautifully illustrated animals and funny going ons, children and adults will love it! Available in shops mid-August and online here.

The Messy Book

Naughty Cat, she has made a huge mess of the book and won't tidy up, no matter how many times Dog asks her. She tries to hide it, jump on it, anything but tidy it away. Poor Dog, he offers to help Cat tidy it away but when the mess explodes out of the hoover, Dog has had enough, it's time to tidy up! Just in time for a party. And the morale of the story, it's easier to tidy up straight away and not let the mess get bigger and worse, it's never fun to tidy up a bigger mess!

I think I can relate to the Cat, there's always those days when you just can't face tidying up and I wish I could hide the mess! With just large speech bubbles, the conversation between the Cat and Dog is hilarious and the illustrations work so well. The Messy Book is very funny, though hopefully it won't give your little ones ideas on not tidying up their toys!

BEWARE!! There's a book eating monster, causing mischief and mayhem....and he's just escaped!

Meet Nibbles, he's rather a naughty little monster that likes to nibble on soap, socks, toes and clocks but his favourite thing is books. But this time he's managed to nibble his way into someone else's story. He causes havoc in Goldilocks and the Three Bears, scaring Goldilocks and making a mess in the Bear's house. He then lands himself in Little Red Riding Hood, steals her clock and basket of food, causes a hullabaloo and muddles the story completely up. Nibbles manages to escape again and nibbles his way into the Jack and the Beanstalk where he bites the giant's bum and manages to escape with the golden goose....but the golden goose drops Nibbles back into his cage. Quickly close the crate and lets hope he doesn't escape again...

Nibbles is a very cheeky monster, but still very cute. With a bright yellow cover that has nibbled out sections showing characters from the books, this book just grabs your attention. It features lift the flaps for the crate door so children can open and close to keep Nibbles in. There's also a double page spread filled with books so that children have to spot him. The inner stories, that Nibbles nibbles his way into, are featured on smaller pages within the book, which works really well in emphasising that it's a different book. There's also footprints and nibbled out holes throughout to show where the little monster has got to. This is lots of fun and children will love following Nibbles to see where he goes next and to help try and catch him.

Emma Yarlett's illustrations work really well in this book. Nibbles is simply illustrated but the book spreads and the stories within are great with lots of detail. Emma uses different styles to emphasise the different books that Nibbles is nibbling into. It's just so much fun and Emma has really captured this and the turmoil that Nibbles is causing.
