Christmas is only a few days away and if like me, you're running a little behind on buying Christmas presents or just need a few stocking fillers for the little ones, then check out the latest festive books from Little Tiger Press. I received a lovely bundle of magical and winter themed titles which would make lovely gifts for little readers.
The Magical Snow Garden
Written by Tracey Corderoy
Illustrated by Jane Chapman
This inspiring tale features a little penguin called Wellington, who dreams of growing a garden but his penguin friends think it's impossible. Wellington tries to look for seeds but can't find any in his snowy home but instead finds a blue wrapper, which if he turns this way and folds another way he makes a bluebell. This gives the little penguin the idea to make a garden out of buttons, wrappers and other scraps and bits. After lots of gluing and glittering, Wellington has achieved his dream of creating a beautiful, magical snow garden. However that night a storm blows in and blows away the garden leaving a very upset Wellington. But when Wellington finds another wrapper he knows that he can make another special garden and his friends help him to create the most magical garden in the snow.
This heartwarming and inspiring tale is about achieving our dreams and never giving up. I always enjoy a story by Tracey Corderoy and illustrated by the talented Jane Chapman, this is no exception. Little ones will definitely enjoy this magical picture book. Recommended for ages 3-6, available in all good shops and online here.
One Snowy Rescue
Written by M Christina Butler
Illustrated by Tina Macnaughton
Wow, what an adventure! This is the ninth book in the Little Hedgehog series. It's winter and Little Hedgehog is snowed in but all he's worried about is whether Mouse isn't snowed in too. He pulls himself out of his window and SPLAT! into a big snowdrift. And so begins a very snowy rescue and it isn't long before its Little Hedgehog who needs a helping hand!
This book is about friendship and helping each other. With a lovely felted red hat throughout the picture book, I'm sure little ones will enjoy stroking the hat while listening to this heart warming tale and with all that snow, it's a book to read together while snuggled up warm in bed or under a warm, cosy blanket.
Available in all good book shops or online here.
The Night Before Christmas
Written by Clement C. Moore
Illustrated by Mark Marshall
This much-loved, classic poem has been brought to life once again, illustrated by Mark Marshall, whom has created a lovely edition, making this a great gift for young children and a great way to introduce a new generation to this iconic poem.
It's Christmas Eve and a little boy is woken up to by the jingle of bells and the clatter of hooves on his roof. As he tiptoes downstairs, who will he find?
I love reading this poem every Christmas and look forward to reading it to Aoife and making this a Christmas tradition. Available in all good book shops and online here.
